It's well-known fact that actor Kim Myung-min doesn't smoke -- there's a famous story of him passing out after smoking cigarettes all day for a scene in the 2001 movie "Sorum (Goosebumps)". And yet, to our surprise, during a recent interview he politely asked if he could light up, and he then proceeded to suck down several cigarettes one after the next. “I tried to be a surgeon, but that turned me into a smoker,” he joked.

It may seem strange at first that Tony Leung Chiu Wai should have been picked as honorary ambassador for the Hong Kong International Film Festival 2007. Despite his fame, Tony Leung emerged as a shy, retiring person in an interview with Cho Sung-kyu, the head of Sponge Entertainment, on behalf of Chosun Ilbo. Excerpts follow.

Korean Wins Best Director Prize in Argentina

Korean filmmakers are continuing to gain recognition at international film events. Hong Sang-soo has won the Best Director prize at this year's Mar del Plata International Film Festival for his latest work "Woman on the Beach." The film is about romance between two men and two women in their 30s on vacation at a beach resort. Actress Goh Hyun-jeong shows different personas as an independent woman who freely expresses her emotions.

Lee Mi-sook, the 45-year-old star of "Untold Scandal", "An Affair", "Whale Hunting" and "That Winter Was Warm", ended her 20-year marriage to plastic surgeon Hong Sung-ho.

The couple made the decision to divorce recently and Lee had her legal representative submit the documents to Seoul Family Court Monday afternoon. A friend named "K" told a reporter, "They have lived apart since their two children went to the U.S. to study six years ago. Their love for each other faded because of that prolonged separation."

Joo Ji-hoon Holds Fan Meeting in Japan

Model-turned-actor Joo Ji-hoon, who rose to stardom with his debut drama “Princess Hours” last year, has held a fan meeting in Japan. He has seen growing popularity in the island country after the drama was aired there.

Joo met with his fans in Tokyo on Tuesday and will travel to Osaka for another fan meeting on Wednesday.



Participating in the shooting of new KBS drama “The Devil,” the new Korean actor is seeing a promising future ahead as he was chosen as the “New Asia Star” representing Korea at the 1st ASTA TV Drama Awards.
